The diverse district is one of the largest districts in the nation with over 68,000 students.The district is praised for the high athletic, academic and artistic achievements of its students. Dancing Moose Montessori School has received the “Best of State” award for the past four years. The American Preparatory Academy was named the “2011 Charter School of the Year” by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools. Three Hunter High School students were honored at a regional architectural design competition presented by the National Association for Women in Construction. Hunter Junior High School was acknowledged by the International Technology & Engineering Educator Association for its elite technology education program. West Valley Learning Center

Salt Lake Community College opened West Valley Center in 2015 to focus on giving more local students the opportunity to attend college classes closer to home with accessible public transportation. The beautiful campus brings college life benefits to the city, inviting students to extend their learning after high school. More than 50 general education courses and numerous community-learned courses are offered. The community college’s location within West Valley City enables students to connect with local businesses to build beneficial relationships for job recruitment and workforce development.

With a great range of college programs offered near West Valley City, you can earn a degree close to home with a short commute. Plus, our Hometown Scholars program makes it affordable for everyone to attend college. This innovative scholarship program pays for a number of West Valley City graduates to attend college for free and can even pay for their room and board.
