West Valley City’s Labor Pool is Extensive and Growing

The Salt Lake Valley region has a population of 1.2 million, generating a labor pool of around 700,000 for the area, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On top of that, Utah hails as the fastest growing state in the nation. U.S. Census data shows Utah’s population increased by 18.4% from 2010 to 2020, compared to a 7.4% increase in population nationally. The population of Utah in 2020 was 3.3 million and by 2065, the state expects to add another 2.5 million people.

West Valley City’s Workforce is Skilled and Educated

Utah has a higher-than-national average high school graduation rate of 92.3%; and 34% of Utahns have at least a bachelor’s degree, according to U.S. Census data. There are six nationally recognized public and private universities within an hour’s drive of West Valley City, including the University of Utah, which is just a 15-minute drive away. Programs like Talent Ready Utah, The Utah College of Applied Technology’s Custom Fit, and Utah Technology Apprenticeship Program (UTAP) provide workforce training for jobs in information technology, construction, aviation, life sciences, aerospace manufacturing, and diesel mechanics.
